Our 6th birthday is just around the corner! We're busy planning our "six years, five shows, four days" Birthday Blowout and you're invited! There will be something for (almost) everyone this year, as we return to our eastside roots for shows on March 1, 2, 3, and 4, 2009 at Bossanova Ballroom.
This slightly smaller venue (where we celebrated our 1st and 2nd
birthdays) allows fire and has a rigging point for aerialists (which the Crystal Ballroom does not), so look for some new and exciting performances to spice up the band's new songs. Also, with two Sunday matinées this year, there'll be more room for the little ones to run around and, hopefully, SEE the show too. Also, proceeds from the second matinee show benefit Sunnyside School's library fund.
We're trying something new for our elders this year (on March 2nd
only): floor-level reserved VIP seating. Some of our biggest fans are great-grandparents who just aren't up to standing through a show (and can't see too well from way back in the balcony).
We've invited some of our favorite bands to come to Portland to open for our birthday shows. See all the details below.
As always, if March 4 is your birthday you get a free ticket to any one of our birthday shows. Please bring your ID to your nearest Tiny's Coffee starting February 1, 2009 when tickets go on sale.

There are few things as precious as rocking out with tons of kids on stage and seeing a little sister hugging her brother until the music started and the balloons and chaos began!! Thanks for coming out...we couldn't do it without you. As they say, "This band is Your band!"

Tue, March 3, 2009 - 9:47 AMjust fyi: one of the tiny's employees was talking mad shit about selling tix when i went in. "apparently we're a BOX OFFICE now. giving me more work and not getting paid for it..." RUDE. made it kinda awkward when i wanted to buy tickets. i've been handling presale tickets for events for a while now and going to shows for forever and that was the worst experience i've had to date. she never even asked if we wanted coffee. good thing i don't drink the stuff.
on a more positive tip, monday night was super, super fun. i can't wait to go back with my daughter tonight -

I had some concerns about using them for presale (they are owned by the same owners as Bossanova) and you aren't the first person to have a problem. Some people were flat-out turned away. So, needless to say, we will look into other options for future shows. -

Any chance of getting the deets on line-up & timing for Wednesday night?
My date actually moved to Portland largely because of M4 & Vagabond Opera, & I'm so excited to bring him to the show. But I'll be working right up til 9:30ish, & I'm kinda trying to nudge him into going earlier so he doesn't miss as much of the action. The other big draw for him is Chernova... so, if you could give a ballpark of the order of play, I'd be ever so thankful.
